good and bad ads

Good Ads.

1. I liked this ad because it made me understand the product I was looking at. It explained what the product could do for me clearly and concisely and even told me where i could get more information if I wanted to.
2. This ad was also good because the pictures drew my attention to it before I looked at anything else on the page. It explained what the people going on this trip would be doing and made it seem like it would be a lot of fun. They also told me where to go for more information.
3. I liked this ad because the artwork was fantastic and it told me when the movies were coming out on DVD. It also included information about extra features about the DVDs like rating and what was on the DVDs besides the movies themselves. I also liked that it included a quote from entertainment weekly.

Bad ads.

1. I did not like this ad because I felt that it did nothing except give me the name of a product and the price for it. It did not explain why it would be better for me to have than any other type of welding helmet
2. This ad was bad because it literally did nothing expect give me a product name and price. It did not explain anything at all about the product.
3. This as had an attractive picture but that is all I can say for it. It only gave me the name of a school and told me a little about a scholarship they offer. It did not tell me anything about the school itself or why I should choose it over any other school.

Students will be able to choose from an array of art types to enter into the competition. They include 3D modeling, video, drawing, painting and many more as well. Students may work in groups if they choose but are not required to.
The judging will take place on April 2, but the winners will not be announced until Friday April 16, at 12:30 p.m.

Target Audience
The target audience for the Student Art competition is the whole Lyndon State College community. The Visual Art department wants to show everyone what their students have been learning and the students themselves want the chance to match their skills against their peers.

Product benefits
By showing people what goes on in the Visual Arts Department the department hopes to gain popularity and make students want to learn more about Visual Arts. It also benefits all the students who take part in it by allowing them to learn more about their field by getting real experience in it.

Current Brand Image
This competition has been successful at giving students real world experience in the Visual Arts field in the past. Although some people outside the college may view it as nothing more than a typical school competition.

Desired Brand Image
The Visual Arts Department hopes to use the competition to attract attention to itself and make students see that Visual Arts can be a fun department and to attract future students.

Direct Competitors
There are other events on campus like this one but in order to attract more students to the Visual Arts department they must compete against all other majors.

The high school Visual Arts design competition, sponsored by Barclay Tucker, was a major success. Lyndon State College visual art students were able to help high school students interested in visual arts.

“The competition helps the students in a few ways,” Tucker says. “First, it gives them an opportunity to practice and hone their skills. It also puts them in a situation where they have to work with someone they do not know who may or may not have different opinions and forces them to communicate and work with that individual.” The competition also showed the students what it’s like to work in a real world design team and what it’s like to be on a fast deadline.

“The posters were judged on use of design principles, typography, appropriate image for the audience and overall impact.” Tucker says. Team two took first place in the competition. The team consisted of Tabby Swank from Center of Technology Essex and Joey Henry from Stafford Technical Center. Team six took second place. That team consisted of Page Mayer from Stafford Technical Center and Sean Hamilton from HACTC. Team three took third place. The team consisted of Georgia Cota from Center of Technology Essex and Sondra Masse from Cold Hallow Career Center.

Page Mayer, from the Stafford Technical Center, won a $500.00 Scholarship to Lyndon State College and also received the leadership award.
